ICCIC, Codissia hail Tamil Nadu budget moves on tenders, agriculture education and industry

COIMBATORE: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC) has welcomed the state govt’s commitment to transparent and corruption-free execution of govt tenders and public projects through an open tendering system, calling it a reform that would enhance transparency, promote fair competition and expand opportunities for industries and MSMEs.Welcoming the focus on agriculture, ICCIC cited the special package of Rs 102 crore to promote paddy cultivation and food grain production in 29 non-delta districts. The initiative covers the kar, kuruvai and sornavari seasons and is expected to span about 34 lakh acres. The chamber said the package would support farmers, strengthen food security and aid rural economic development.ICCIC endorsed the allocation of Rs 44,527 crore for school education, including Rs 2,000 crore for free laptops and continued student welfare initiatives, saying these measures would strengthen the skilled workforce and support long-term growth.The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) appreciated announcements, including TN Single Window 3.0 for faster approvals, a new industrial policy focused on advanced manufacturing and deep technology, five new industrial training institutes costing about Rs 90 crore, 20,000 new EV charging stations, training for EV and battery maintenance and the creation of multi-modal logistics parks.
