Chennai: A war of words has broke out between PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and TNCC president Manickam Tagore over the Mekedatu issue after the former equated Congress with BJP alleging that both parties were `trying to betray TN in the Mekedatu issue.’Anbumani dared leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to speak in favour of Tamil Nadu in the Mekedatu issue. “Can Rahul support Tamil Nadu in the Mekedatu issue and can he say that Karnataka shouldn’t construct Mekedatu dam during his visit to Chennai on Aug 1?” Anbumani asked. “If Rahul speaks for TN, I will quit NDA.”He was responding to Manickam Tagore who demanded that Anbumani speak against BJP in the parliament since he was alleging that BJP had also betrayed TN. The two leaders also traded charges that their parties had won seats in the assembly election due to support from their allies. While Anbumani said Congress would not even win a councillor’s post on its own strength, Tagore retorted saying PMK won four assembly seats because of its allies AIADMK and BJP.The two leaders also had differences over chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s proposed visit to Karnataka.
