Chennai: Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company (Chola), the financial services arm of the Murugappa Group, raised Rs 7,917 crore through non-convertible debentures (NCDs) and subordinated debt during the first quarter of the current fiscal (Q1 FY27).Its board on Tuesday also approved the issuance of secured and/or unsecured NCDs aggregating up to Rs 55,000 crore in one or more tranches on a private placement basis, the company informed the stock exchanges.Meanwhile, Chola reported a 46% rise in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 1,654 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, from Rs 1,136 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The Chennai-headquartered NBFC, which entered the gold loan business last year, crossed Rs 2,000 crore in assets under management (AUM) in its gold loan portfolio during Q1 FY27.Aggregate disbursements rose 22% to Rs 29,612 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 24,325 crore in the year-ago quarter. Vehicle finance disbursements stood at Rs 16,503 crore during the quarter, while loan against property (LAP) disbursements were Rs 4,780 crore. Disbursements under consumer and small enterprise loans (CSEL) stood at Rs 3,408 crore during the first quarter of FY27.Total AUM stood at Rs 2,54,392 crore as of June 30, 2026.Ends/YK
