Chennai: A 48-year-old DMK functionary was found dead with multiple injuries on the roadside near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district. Police are probing if he was murdered or killed in a road accident.The deceased was identified as Rajini, a power loom weaver and former DMK branch secretary of Pothadoorpet near Pallipattu. His father, Subramani, is the DMK town president of Pothadoorpet-Perur and a sitting town panchayat councillor.According to the police, Rajini attended a family function at Guruvarajapettai near Arakkonam on Sunday and was returning home on a motorcycle around midnight. His body was later found with serious injuries on the Tiruttani-Pothadoorpet State Highway near a school.Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the neighbourhood to ascertain the incident. A case has been registered.
