Tom Cruise reviews Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' in IMAX: 'I can't wait to see it again'

Trust Hollywood superstar, Tom Cruise to turn up to catch an early screening to some of the biggest blockbusters.The actor on Thursday took to his social media handle to shower praise on Christopher Nolan‘s much-anticipated epic ‘The Odyssey’ that releases in cinemas, worldwide on Friday, July 17. Posting a photo from the theatre and proudly showing off his movie ticket, the actor gushed about his unforgettable experience and vowed to return to watch the film again.

The Mission: Impossible star took to social media on Thursday to congratulate Nolan, producer Emma Thomas and the entire cast and crew comprising of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page and more. Sharing a picture from outside an IMAX 70mm theatre, Cruise wrote, “Wow! To Chris, Emma, and ALL of your brilliant cast and crew. Thank you for an amazing night in a movie theater. I can’t wait to see it again!”

‘The Odyssey’ opens to rave reviews

Cruise’s endorsement comes just ahead of ‘The Odyssey’ theatrical release. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film follows Homer’s ancient Greek epic and stars Damon as Odysseus, the legendary king of Ithaca, who starts his perilous journey home after the Trojan War in a quest to reunite with his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.The star-studded ensemble also includes Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Travis Scott and Charlize Theron, among others. Ahead of its release, the film has earned widespread critical acclaim, holding a 96 per cent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of publication.

Cruise has long been one of Hollywood’s strongest advocates for the theatrical movie experience. The actor famously delayed the release of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ during the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure audiences could watch it on the big screen rather than via streaming. The sequel went on to become a global blockbuster, grossing nearly USD 1.5 billion worldwide.Over the years, Cruise has also publicly supported films like Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ and ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Barbie’, ‘Sinners’, ‘F1: The Movie’, ‘Disclosure Day’ and many other films.

Tom Cruise awaits ‘Digger’ release

On the work front, the actor is also gearing up for the releae of his next big venture titled, ‘Digger’. The first trailer for the Alejandro G. Inarritu directorial earlier this week, showcased the actor in a dramatically transformed appearance under heavy prosthetic makeup. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2.
