Chennai: An exhibition — featuring photographs, videos, testimonials and documentary material — titled ‘Auroville: An Experiment Under Threat’ was held in Puducherry on Saturday and Sunday. Major Arun Ambathy, a organiser of the event, told TOI that the exhibition documented the impact of administrative decisions and accelerated development works on ecological restoration projects, organic farms, community processes and continuity of Auroville’s founding vision and purpose.“The Auroville Foundation office is trying to sell 18 acres of valuable beach-facing forest land belonging to the Foundation to a private land mafia. We filed a police complaint and the investigation is on, but they are forcefully trying to evict occupants through extrajudicial means using rowdies and goons,” he said.
