Chennai: Law is the profession of life, and anything that concerns a human being affects a lawyer too, Kerala High Court judge Justice Devan Ramachandran said on Saturday.Addressing students at the induction programme for various law degree programmes at the VIT School of Law (VITSOL), as the chief guest, he said, “Anything that matters to a human being, matters to a lawyer. Therefore, we have to be sensitive, empathetic and man-managers”.Stressing that legal profession demanded perseverance and dedication, he added, “”There are no shortcuts in your profession. It is a marathon, it gives you the opportunity to run long, prepare yourselves and to be guided by the failures you will encounter.”The guests of honour of the event were Supreme Court advocate Sarah Sunny and Maygha Viswanat, senior legal counsel at XFLOW Payments India Private Limited and an alumna of VIT School of Law, VIT Chennai.Justice Ramachandran further said that success in law was not measured solely by academic distinctions. “It is not merely about graduating with distinctions or ranks. I certainly want the best lawyers, but I also want the best judges to come from your cohort,” he said.Advocate Sarah encouraged students to view challenges as opportunities for growth.
