Coimbatore: A 53-year-old man was found dead with a severe head injury near a private eye hospital on Vilankurichi Road near Saravanampatti on Sunday.The deceased has been identified as T Dhandapani, from Dharmapuri district, who was residing at Kamban Street in Vinayagapuram, near Saravanampatti in Coimbatore.Police said Dhandapani left his house on the day of the incident but failed to return. “While his family members launched a search, his wife, Janaki, 45, received information that her husband was lying on the roadside near a private eye hospital on Vilankurichi Road. Janaki and her son rushed to the spot and found Dhandapani with a visible head injury,” said a police officer from Saravanampatti station.A 108 ambulance team which was alerted, also arrived at the scene. However, after examining Dhandapani, the medical personnel declared him dead. Preliminary observations revealed a deep wound on the back of Dhandapani’s head.Following a complaint lodged by Janaki, Saravanampatti police registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
