50 Bangladeshi nationals sent to West Bengal for deportation

SALEM: Fifty Bangladeshi nationals, who were lodged at a special detention camp at the Attur taluk office complex in Salem district, were on Saturday sent to West Bengal for their deportation to their country. They were sent to West Bengal on a train from Trichy under police protection.“The Attur camp has been functioning since July 30, 2025. It houses Bangladeshi nationals accused of illegal immigration and forging documents to stay in the country,” said an official at the camp. He added that the 50 of the total 186 detainees at the camp were released after they served their sentences. The released Bangladeshi nationals included six women.Most of the detainees at the Attur camp had been earlier lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai after cases had been registered at the Mangadu police station in Chennai and the Kallimandayam police station in Dindigul district for illegal stay in the country.(No photo)
