Chennai: A 20-year-old nursing college student was arrested in Tiruttani for morphing a photo of a woman and posting it on social media along with her mobile phone number. The accused was assaulted by villagers before police intervened.Police said the accused, Naresh, of a village near Tiruttani, has been locked in a long-standing land civil dispute with fellow villager, which is pending before a district court. Claiming to “settle scores”, Naresh morphed the photograph of the opposing party’s wife and uploaded it on social media with her phone number.The post went viral and the woman got numerous obscene and sexually harassing phone calls from strangers. As the harassment intensified, her family traced the source account to Naresh.The woman’s relatives and villagers assaulted Naresh before Tiruttani police intervened and took him into custody. Based on the woman’s complaint, police registered a case and arrested Naresh. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
