Chennai: Police have launched a search for a 56-year-old businessman who is suspected to have been abducted by a four-member gang after he went missing along with his car near Navalur on Saturday afternoon. The missing man, Charles, a resident of Medavakkam, is a shareholder in an associate company linked to a firm under investigation for an alleged ₹8,000-crore fraud. Police are investigating whether his disappearance is connected to the case.Charles went missing when his driver, Shyam, 30, went to buy liquor at a Tasmac shop near VGP Mall in Navalur. When Shyam returned, he found both the car and Charles were missing. People in the area reportedly told him that four unidentified men had arrived and driven away with Charles in the car. Upon informing, a police team from Thazhambur station began an investigation. They are examining whether Charles was forcibly abducted or whether he left the spot voluntarily with persons known to him. Police said the car has crossed Trichy toll gate and suspect the abductors have taken him to Sivagangai. Efforts are on to trace him.
