COIMBATORE: Admissions have begun for the 2026–27 academic year for the diploma in elementary teacher education at the Government Women Teacher Training Institute on the Raja Veethi here.Applicants must be Tamil Nadu residents who have passed Class XII, with a minimum of 50% for general category and 45% for other categories. The upper age limit is 30 years for general category candidates, 35 years for SC/ST and persons with disabilities, and 37 years for destitute women, women deserted by husbands and widows.Candidates must submit Class X, Class XI and Class XII mark statements, community certificate, photograph, transfer certificate and other relevant documents for claiming concessions.With the online application window closed, spot admissions are under way. Students admitted will receive Rs 1,000 per month under the Pudhumai Penn scheme, while scholarships are available for those with annual income below Rs 2 lakh.The two-year course attracts largely college graduates.
