Coimbatore’s Government Arts College to hold second round of UG counselling to fill 133 vacant seats

COIMBATORE: Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, will conduct an additional round of undergraduate counselling at 9am on Tuesday to fill 133 seats that remain vacant after the first counselling.The college has a total intake of 1,727 seats in its UG programmes. After the completion of the first counselling, 1,594 students have been admitted, leaving 133 seats unfilled across different subjects and community categories.College officials said candidates with a cut-off mark of 230 and above are eligible to attend the counselling. The vacancies are spread across multiple departments, with limited seats reported in commerce, political science, defence, history, economics, public administration and select science subjects.UG admission counselling for the 2026-27 academic year began on June 5. The college offers 23 UG courses. During the initial rounds, seats in several high-demand programmes were filled, including information technology, psychology, international business, BBA, B Com, B Com (CA), Tamil and English.The upcoming counselling is aimed at completing admissions by allocating the remaining seats based on eligibility and availability under respective community reservations and subject-wise vacancies. Candidates attending the counselling are expected to compete for the remaining limited seats in the listed disciplines.The college received 37,398 applications for its 23 UG courses conducted in two shifts. Of the total applicants, 19,483 were men and 17,894 were women, officials said.
